Washington Torn Over I-502

Emotions are running high over Initiative 502, the measure to "remove state-law prohibitions against producing, processing, and selling marijuana" for Washington state residents 21+.

Activists from every corner are speaking out in support (or contempt) of the new Initiative. An organization formed called Patients Against I-502 that aims to highlight the damages that I-502 could do to medical marijuana and its patients. "Legalization should not come," they say,  "at the expense of those who use cannabis for medicinal purposes."

NORML, a not-for-profit organization created to support the reform of marijuana lies, wrote an official response to Patients Against I-502. In it, they admit that the wording of the initiative may have some flaws, but any beginning is a great beginning. "At NORML, we support these efforts, even when imperfect, because the greater good achieved by legalization proposals outweighs the imperfect language."

According to Opposing Views, a recent poll was conducted that found 47% of respondents in favor of passing I-502. How do you feel about it?

With all of the buzz generating over this year's primary election for Republican Presidential candidate, we wanted to share something important to BOTH Collective: how the candidates feel about medicinal cannabis.

In this Huffington Post article, there's a featured slideshow listing the candidates and their opinions on medical marijuana use.
Santorum is in the slideshow too, although he admitted that he doesn't know the medical marijuana laws.

Medical Marijuana Across The Country

According to recent news, legislation to legalize medicinal cannabis is being proposed in Mississippi.



From the article:
At least one member of the senate is hoping lawmakers will get on board with the idea of medical marijuana. Currently the University of Mississippi legally grows marijuana for the federal government, and has been for at least a decade.

There's also news of medical marijuana making its debut in New Jersey.

We're excited to see the progress in the medicinal cannabis movement. Patients having greater access to medication is always great news!

All things considered, 17th isn't that bad, right? We'd like to think that BOTH and our patients help keep the city out of the top 10.

Submit Your Strain for February's NW Cannabis Crown!

BOTH Collective is now looking for medicinal cannabis growers to join us for February's NW Cannabis Crown. If you think you’ve got the best medicine in Seattle, come prove it! Put your strain against the others in our upcoming event.

It doesn’t cost growers anything to submit their strain, and the winner will be featured as Strain of the Month at BOTH Collective (we’ll carry up to 1/4 lb. of the strain and compensate the winner generously).

Growers do NOT have to be at the NW Cannabis Crown event in late February in order to win. Send us an e-mail if you’re interested in submitting your very best strain (contact@bothcollective.com), or stop by during our normal operating hours.
